Description: SE Job Description Overall Skills The SE candidate must have the ability to provide product demonstrations and give compelling technical product presentations. S/he should also have the ability to manage multiple accounts from product evaluations to technical closure. In addition to having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the candidate should also be very hands on and have strong analytic/diagnostic skills at the operating system, network and application level. Partner Training The SE candidate will have the ability to deliver technical training to our distribution partners. Distribution partners are expected to have the same technical ability as our SE's. The SE is responsible for providing technical training to partner SE's and helping the partner SE on their initial customer product evaluations. In addition, the SE will be required provide back-line support for the SE Partners. Technical Knowledge Operating Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of Solaris, Linux (preferably RedHat) at the administrator or system programmer level. In depth familiarity with Win NT/2k/XP networking and system administration Application knowledge: Web server administration and configuration (ideally Apache), knowledge of proxy servers, knowledge of regex,. Comfortable with reading HTML and JavaScript Network technology: Understanding of the following: DNS, Load balancers, L7 switch, routers, caching devices and network diagnostic tools. Familiarity with the operation of firewalls Protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, NTLM Any of the following would also be of benefit: Knowledge of web performance/load testing tools. Administration or programmer level experience with application servers (e.g. WebLogic, WebSphere, MS .Net, etc.). Familiarity with enterprise web applications like Peoplesoft, Siebel, SAP, Oracle Financials. Familiarity with clientless VPN. Familiarity with Single Sign-On solutions. Reporting structure The SE reports directly to the SE manager and is part of the sales organization. Day to day prospect and customer activities are directed by the regional sales manager. The SE manager may assign a special project (trouble shooting, training course material development, testing) as SE time is available.
