Job Description
|
Responsibilities
•Troubleshoot and resolve issues with installation, upgrade and support utilities in multiple releases.
•Isolate problems which involve working across multiple components within the ESX product.
•Communicate with multiple groups in the course of performing above functions
•Implement new features or enhancements to the existing products. Mostly porting.
•Our Installer is written in python and based on Red Hat’s Anaconda Installer.
Requirements
•Proficiency in Python, Perl and Shell scripting
•Knowledge of RPM (Red Hat Package Manager) best practices as well as RPM install scripts, spec files and development libraries.
•Strong multi-layer development and debugging skills across kernel, driver, library and application layers.
•Expertise with installing, administering, troubleshooting and developing software for the linux operating system.
•Ability to debug C Code, Makefiles and other scripting and program languages.
Must Have
•RPM, Python and Perl and Shell
•Must be able to debug Perl and Shell script
•Must have come out of sustaining, and done a lot of debugging.
•Must have configured and installed a variety of software, and managed configurations like IP routing.
•Must be able to see the big picture
•Must be able to debug during installation…can isolate problems.
•Broad background is helpful
•Networking is not required but helpful
•Windows is not required
•Linux is a plus but not required.
